How many bags of mulch would I need for 120 square feet at 1 jn. thick?

1 cubic foot is a square 12 inches tall , 12 inches across and 12 inches deep. so a cubic foot contains twelve 1" squares of 12" by 12" by 1 inch thick. so one cubic foot will cover a 12 inch wide swath that is twelve feet long and one inch deep. since the bag contains two cubic feet, it will cover an area of 12 inches wide by 24 feet long to a depth of 1 inch. so one bag will cover 24 sq ft, for 120 sq ft you need 5 bags ( 5x24=120 sq ft)

Hi, Try using Lowes mulch calculator, I used it for my project and it worked great.http://www.lowes.com/cd_Mulch+Calculator_693827138_

You need 5 - 2 cubic foot bags. Lowes.com has a mulch calulator. Just put "mulch calculator" in the product search. If you have no mulch in the bed, it is recommended that you put in 3" for weed prevention and moisture retention. If you are just refreshing the mulch 1" is fine. Hope this helps!
