can I use it for an outer play ground area?

Yes you can. My one year old son walks on this with ease in the garden paths

Was this Answer Helpful ?I would not use it near kids because of the dye that is used. It comes off on to your hands when putting it out
Was this Answer Helpful ?This is a Hardwood Mulch. As such, the wood particles are subject to splinters. I would use the more expensive Rubber Type Mulch for Play areas. The Particles do not splinter and the rubber does form a cushion when a child falls on it.
Was this Answer Helpful ?yes.. good for same
Was this Answer Helpful ?Organic mulch doesn't do well in a traffic area. It would be a real mess, and maintence headache. If you are wanting to add color and texture to this area rubber mulch is your best bet. (watch out for sticker shock) Play sand might be your best bet; you can always top coat with mulch later if you don't like the look.
Was this Answer Helpful ?No you can not use Mulch as play ground material. It is meant as a soil conditioner. Use extra small bark or better order material specific for play grounds such as ground up rubber.
