Foundation Vents Protect the Home
Protect the integrity of your home's foundation with foundation vents. They circulate outside air into your home's foundation, improving the ventilation to help to eliminate moisture buildup that can lead to mold or rot.
Create a foundation vent well with plastic or metal foundation vents to minimize the risk of foundation problems year-round. These vents open when the temperature reaches 70 degrees Fahrenheit to bring air into the crawlspace, reducing moisture buildup and fighting decay. At 40 degrees, the vents close to protect pipes from freezing during cold weather. If your vent is easy to access, consider a manual style so that you can adjust it as needed. For hard-to-reach spaces, choose an automatic vent for convenience.
Consider flood vents if you live in a flood zone. Water flows freely through them, adding a layer of protection when waters rise by reducing hydrostatic pressure buildup that can destroy walls and foundations.
