Keep your yard neat and trimmed with an edger for lawn care. Edgers cut into grass and sod to create crisp, defined edges around garden beds, driveways, patios and walkways. Lawn edgers can be manual, or they can run on electricity or gas. Electric edgers come in both corded and cordless versions.
For large jobs and prolonged use, choose a gas lawn edger. A gas edger usually cranks with a pull starter, but some have electric starters. For smaller jobs and occasional use, a cordless electric lawn edger with a rechargeable battery can be a great option. An electric edger with a cord has a limitless runtime, but it requires a suitable extension cord.
A manual edger may feature a blade wheel and dual tires for
stability. Or it might use a stationary semicircle blade. If you’re up for
spending more time and effort on your lawn, a manual edger can be a useful and
budget-friendly tool. To learn more, check out our guide on power edgers, Edge
Your Landscape With a Power Lawn Edger.
A BLACK+DECKER lawn edger is used to cut a crisp line along sidewalks, driveways and garden beds. Use the edger when you want a straight, defined edge at a set depth, and use a string trimmer for general grass trimming around posts, fences and uneven areas.
To choose the right BLACK+DECKER lawn edger, match power and runtime to yard size. For small yards, a corded electric or 20-volt battery model is usually enough. For larger lots, look for higher amp corded tools or higher voltage batteries, adjustable depth settings and a guide wheel for long straight runs.
To get a clean edge, set the blade depth so it just cuts below the soil line, start at a corner, then roll the guide wheel along the concrete while keeping a steady walking pace. Let the blade do the work, avoid forcing it and overlap slightly on each pass for a uniform edge.
To keep a BLACK+DECKER lawn edger in good shape, unplug or remove the battery, then brush off grass, dirt and debris after each use, check the blade for dullness or chips, tighten fasteners, inspect the cord or battery contacts and replace the blade when cutting becomes slow or ragged.
