Tackle Tough Soil With a Tiller

Hard, compact soil can make gardening not just a chore, but nearly impossible. A tiller not only makes for easier work, but it'll also create an environment where your plants can thrive — allowing water, oxygen and nutrients to pass through the soil. At Lowe’s, we offer a selection of tillers for gardens both large and small.

A garden tiller with a tilling width of 21 inches or more might be required for larger plots, whereas a 9-inch model may be sufficient for smaller gardens. For those who need to till very deeply — for instance, in cases of very poor soil or for planting certain crops — we have models with tilling depths of up to 11 inches. We carry both front and rear tine tillers, with rear tine designs often the heavier-duty option. If you’re in the market for a CRAFTSMAN tiller, you can find both kinds among our selection.

Many of our models also function as cultivators to work already loosened soil, such as when incorporating fertilizer. Other special features include front bumpers, adjustable handle heights, and the ability to adjust the tilling depth and width.
