Induction Cooktops for Every Kitchen
Considering an induction stovetop for your kitchen? Induction cooktops use electromagnetic energy to heat quickly and efficiently. Because its actual surface doesn’t get as hot to the touch as others, an induction stove is ideal for families with small children. Want to find the best induction cooktop for your home? We can help.
Benefits of Induction
The biggest advantage of induction stovetops is their ability to heat quickly. When boiling a pot of water, induction stovetops can do the task in less time — two to four minutes less than gas or electric ranges. Another great benefit is that its heating occurs through conduction, transferring heat from a cooking pot to the glass surface of the stovetop. That means as soon as a pot or pan is removed, heating subsides. The glass surface of an induction stovetop will never get as hot as a traditional electric range. Plus, if you turn on an induction burner accidentally, it won’t heat unless a pot makes contact with it.
The Right Cookware
If you have a traditional gas or electric stovetop, you’ll need to replace your cookware with pots and pans that are induction compatible. Induction stovetop cookware has a magnetic bottom.
How to Clean Induction Stovetops
Induction stovetops are probably the easiest to clean of all stove types. Because they have a flat surface, food won’t get stuck in the heating elements. To clean then, simply use a damp sponge to clean off food stains. For more stuck-on food, gently use a single-edge razor at a 45-degree angle to scrape it off. You can also use cooktop cleaners compatible with induction for an extra-clean finish.
At Lowe’s, we have several induction stoves to choose from, including induction cooktops with downdraft ventilation built in. You can also find helpful features like smart compatibility and cooktops with griddles. If you’re interested in features like convection, cooktops don’t offer that — it’s an oven feature and you’ll need a range with convection cooking. The good news is, induction range tops can be stand alone cooktops or part of a range, so you can cook with the appliance and features you want. Looking for a particular brand? We’re proud to carry cooktop options from Bosch, GE, KitchenAid and more.
