You must place it a couple inches from the wall.
This trashcan looks good enough and functions fine except that you have to give it space from the wall for the lid to open, and I cannot find how to lock the lid open for removal of the inner plastic can for changing the liner.

This trash can is awesome works as it should. Easy to use foot pedal. And bag is hidden when lid is closed.

A year later
I've had this trash can for just over a year now and while it has been mostly fantastic, the soft close feature of the lid has diminished in recent weeks. It was nearly silent when new, but now drops faster and it makes a good amount of noise when it closes.

Incorrect Description
The description mentions there are two bins inside to separate trash from recyclables, but that is not the case for this product. There is one bin only. Happimess does have another product as described, but it looks like the descriptions got mixed up.
