Tasty but Potentially Lethal Heart Condition

I'll start with the good side of this food: It's affordable and our dog liked it. Alright, onto the bad: Our dog started presenting with a cough, bloating, and a resting breathing rate twice as fast as it should be. Took him to the vet, was deferred to an actual hospital. His heart is twice the size it should be, and he probably has a couple years left to live. Our dog is two. Probable Link to Fatal Heart Condition (DCM)

To start with the positive: my dog loved it and it's affordable. For the negative: Bad for health. Grain-free legume rich (including peas) have apparently been linked to dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in many dogs. It's not a total one for one cause, but there are a lot of incidents of it, including us now. We have fed this food to our German Shepherd/Pitbull mix his whole life on a personal recommendation without realizing this and he was just diagnosed with DCM. Neither of his breeds are typica...

Cause DCM in my 5 year old Mastiff

My Giant Breed has been on this for 5 years and just developed AFIB, the vet said the grain free is linked to cardio diseases and more than likely caused DCM and Taurine deficiencies. I cannot believe that they are able to sell this product. The FDA was investigating Grain Free and has not released conclusive results- but this food is terrible. We have had our dog since birth and was breed by our family members with very reputable dogs, none of the rest of them have had any heart issues.

Great Food for dogs

Quality food my dogs have been on this food for a long time since they brought this brand out I have 3 Shihtzu and a husky no issues at all they don’t over eat on it seem satisfied and healthy with healthy weights and great coats I go back and fourth between the beef and pea grain free and the salmon grain free No issues here!

Best option for Chicken allergies

This is our second German Shepherd Dog with an allergy to chicken and its byproducts. This was our best find for a quality, chicken-free food at a good value. We’ve put all our dogs on it in case they “share.” And they all love it.

Get Whole Hearted! my dogs go crazy for it!

I recommend Whole Hearted!! I have been using this brand for a couple months now and my little pups go crazy as soon as a new bag comes in through the door! I alternate flavors for them so they dont get tired of the flavor, and thankfully when switching it, it does not upset their stomach at all (so no poop soup), which is always niceee.

My dog loves this food! Scored an amazing deal 5 bags for 36-40 bucks, and my dogs fur is so shiny and soft with her eating this food mixed with some boiled chicken and veggies chopped on top <3

Bad dog food

I bought two bags of whole hearted dog food in Sept of 2024 and both bags had maggots in the food. After sending pictures and email to whole hearted I got no response from the company. Very disappointing and will no longer be buying this food for my dogs. Please always check the bags of food from this company!

Grain free all stages really good dog food!!

I really love this dog food. I looked at the ingredients and meat was the first ingredient not corn not a bunch of ingredients that were not good for my dog. I have working dogs so their food is very important to my dogs they get enough protein they look beautiful. They have enough stamina to do what I need them to do, and the price is wonderful.
