Surprisingly Quiet, Good Value
Our 19 year old dishwasher dumped a great big puddle of water all over the floor so we did our research and wound up buying this lower priced model. It wasn't our intention to buy such a basic dishwasher. This is our first Whirlpool appliance and we chose it because of its features and the brand reliability data in Consumer Reports. Love the black and I'm glad I chose it over the other colors. The racks and big silverware basket are similar to our old model and are practical. I was really surpr...
We've waited 4 months to review this dishwasher
At first, we experienced some of the same problems outlined by those folks who gave low ratings to this dishwasher. Primarily, the fact that the contents remained wet regardless of how long we waited after the cycle completed before emptying the machine. We called Lowes, who promptly sent out a technician. And he resolved all of the problems without changing a thing on the machine. Here's what he told us, that all dishwasher manufacturers want to be able to advertise that their machine has e...
What to expect with the new Whirlpool 55 dB DW
This is the first "modern" energy and water efficient dishwashers. I chose to stick with Whirlpool since the two we have had lasted so long. The biggest change with these modern units it the weight and amount of plastic now used. The older units were stout being built with steel outer and plastic interior. This unit was all plastic and has much less metal in its support structure. It appears to survived install OK but one has to be aware of the lighter and more fragile structure. Once insta...
Cleans great, seemingly quiet at a good value
So this was my first dishwasher purchase and install. This model isn't the cheapest but wasn't close to the higher tier dishwashers. I would say it's in 3rd quartile of price. The more you pay for dishwashers, as expected you get more features, but the noise rating is really what you're paying for once you get above ~ $700. This model was ~ $330 and for the price and noise level, I'm very happy with the purchase. This dishwasher is in the same great room as our TV so it's necessary to be somewha...
What a piece of garbage
I so wish I could leave it less than 1 star. Just a few months after owning this my wife came to me and said "this thing smells funny. like it's burning". I went to the kitchen and checked the heating element for foreign material. When I did not see any I shrugged my shoulders and let it be. The next day she told me it kept quitting in the middle of a cycle. I went to check it and kept an eye on it. It finished its cycle so I chalked it up to my wife being mistaken. The next time I heard a compl...
Good dishwasher but where's the elbow?
Replaced an aged Whirlpool DW with this unit and the biggest difference other then the electronics is the weight and build materials. Much lighter and much thinner metal frame and plastic tub rather than plastic coated steel. The new energy and water conservation requirements means quiet operation but also longer wash times but the unit comes with electronic sensors that help automatically select the correct wash time. Older units washed better but I suspect this one washes as good as other bran...
The dish washer works fine but has a mold problem.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a few years ago. I was checking the mold on the door, and I realized that was a black mold spot on the lowest part of the door, because it has a design with squares that catch all the humidity and multiply the mold as crazy. I used a dental mirror. For me, this appliance is helpful if my family will be healthy, but not exposed to black mold. I have pics on my phone, if you want to see this. I'am a Bacteriologist and specialist ...

Even better!
I upgraded my 25+ year old Whirlpool dishwasher after it started having some issues pumping water successfully - and me deciding it was time to invest in a new one rather than fixing a really loud old one.I went with this dishwasher because I thought if my old Whirlpool lasted 25+ years with at least 3 owners (it was original to a home I've only lived in for 2 years), then Whirlpool must be a good brand. I loved that this dishwasher has two sprayers, one for each rack, and that the top rack is d...

HATE this Dishwasher
I've been loathing this dishwasher for about a year now. When my husband brought it home, I realized the tub was too small for cookie sheets but it was quiet and cheap. It would do. But now it doesn't. It literally doesn't do at all. It cleaned fine for awhile, then it got to where you would think you had turned it on, but it wouldn't run. Eventually, you had to press start three or four times to get it to start. And wait. And stand by it. And make sure it ran because you have two kids and cook ...
Plenty of Interior Room
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this a month ago and I am so happy I did. The machine is quiet, efficient and easy to use. The main reason for buying this model was the silverware tray was attached to the door versus taking up space on the lower rack. This dishwasher is loaded and runs 2 to 3 times per day to keep up with my in-home daycare. The interior room on the two racks is plenty to get all dishes loaded after each meal. Some wide mouth coffee mugs don't f...
