It's tar paper what else can I say? It is a quality felt and my only constructive criticism would be that it would be nice if the lines on it were a little brighter.
Lowes gave wrong one
I ordered online and picked up the order, I did not think to check the label. While doing my project on the roof I ran out. I only needed 390 square feet for the whole project. I checked my order online and sure enough the one I got had the blue label instead of red. The blue label one is less square feet and that is why it did not give me what I needed. The label was attached underneath already installed roofing so I can not prove that they gave e the wrong one, costing me another $30.00 now, n...

Roofing material under your feet! Underlayment
I used this in an unconventional way and used it as a material to build up areas of a subfloor that were lower at the joints prior to laminate install. Worked great.
Delivery by FedEx sucked
as a result of a windstorm, I ordered two of these roof patches. Lowe's utilized FedEx for the shipment and it has been delayed twice already. as the rain continues to fall, I continue to worry that I will have more damage to my house. Lowe's, please use somebody other than FedEx
Decent tar paper
I prefer Ice & water shield, but if you are interested in reducing cost on a project where the application will have little to no propensity for ice backup or water incursion this might be a good substitute. The 30lb felt is more robust and will last as long as the shingles above them. Take time to apply it straight and level, as the winkles are difficult to get out and the lines can help keep your shingles neatly aligned. I still prefer a self adhesive product around doors and windows for bette...
Heavy, moisture resistant, and useful.
Builders Felt Roof Underlayment is a tar-coated heavy gauge paper material that is useful for a variety of purposes. The coating helps it to resist moisture, and keeps it from being slippery. This roll underlayment comes in two standard weights: 15-pound and 30-pound weights. The heavier material is more useful under roofing shingles, etc. - or so it seems to me. The lighter felt material is useful as a layer between sub-floor and finish floor layers where a layer of paper is called for. That is...

does what you want for a not-insane price.
rolls out, lays flat, stocked in large quantities, not stupidly expensive. What else can you say about roofer's felt paper? "Does what it's supposed to" and "won't bankrupt you" are the only questions I have ever had or heard regarding this stuff, which is does and won't, respectively. If the center band was wide enough to cover it completely so that every other roll doesn't have three-foot tears in it, would have given 5 stars.
