Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The reviews on this paint product are mixed. Some customers found the paint to be of high quality with a smooth and durable finish, while others experienced significant issues. Positive feedback includes the paint's even application, good coverage, and excellent customer service. However, negative reviews cite the paint being too thin, slow to dry, and prone to chipping, scratching, or peeling. Proper surface preparation and application techniques appear crucial for achieving the best results with this product.

I used this paint three times before on a cheapy, or should I say budget conscious refinish for clients. I have to admit It worked decently on unfinished cabinets that were sealed and primed and even worked on factory finished cabinets that were cleaned and scuffed before application. I have to admit it does flow and level out flawlessly even with a high end foam roller. So, I wondered why so many bad reviews on it scratching off so easily. I did not encounter that problem, so I shrugged it o...
For a Sprayer
I really was looking for a superb finish for my parent's kitchen. I used an angle brush for the areas the roller wouldn't reach. Let the first coat set for about 20hrs, then did the second coat. When I tell you, I was disappointed & livid at the same time! I waited at least 10hrs to do another coat and it looked like the first coat (I ended up buying another quart). So here I am, 3 coats in 2 days and it looked like a Kindergarten school project! This was supposed to be a big surprise & I'm pani...
Thank you for taking the time to review the Valspar Cabinet & Furniture Paint. I'm sorry to hear that you experienced roller/brush marks and ...
durable paint
I bought some old previously painted nightstands on Facebook marketplace. the one thing I can say about this paint is that it tries Rock solid. I'm amazed at the number of reviews criticizing adhesion and have to assume that many of the issues noted were from user error. this paint takes a long time to cure but when it does it's indestructible. I didn't find the product to be self leveling which was a disappointment I rolled one coat and I brushed another. it feathers well and should be applied ...
Excellent paint (but need patience)
If you just take your time, follow the directions, and don't try to rush it, this paint will do an amazing job. I bought the satin and had it mixed to SW Peppercorn color for my bookshelves and it went on very well and has held up great! I did sand prior just to scuff up the previous semi gloss paint and then wiped it all down with Krud Kutter - no primer was used. I painted two thin coats, as directed, and waited about four days in between coats. I used cheap black foam brushes to apply and a f...
So far so good.
I used this paint on my kitchen cabinets. The stain was very thin and already starting to come up in some spots. They aren't very high quality, but I wasn't in the market for a full remodel yet, so I wanted to freshen things up. I painted them ultra white, no color or tint. What I discovered was that prep is key! I used TSP cleaner and steel wool first, then sanded with 120 grit to take off much of the stain. Cleaned up again with tack cloth. I then used Valspar Bonding/Sealing Primer. I applied...
NO sanding and NO primer. Just paint it on.
I have loathed Valspar paints for years. Yes, loathe. Yet they have redeemed themselves with this paint. I‘Ve used Behr for years and that was my go-to. Yet my husband and I much prefer Lowe’s as a store. With this shut-down, my husband made the run to Lowe’s to pick up paint to cover our bedroom furniture. I looked up the color online and told him to get anything other than Valspar. When he came home with this, I was not happy. But I was ready to paint so off I went. I have never used a more fo...
it worked for me
Had previously stained brown wood cabinets which I primed with Behr 75 - 3 coats to obliterate brown. Bought 1 quart of satin tinted to SW 'Watery' and 2 coats of this paint has done a lovely job. I used a 2'' polyester brush and made sure not to overload it with paint. I took all doors off and painted horizontal. Paint performed well and did not run . You won't cover surface with 1 coat but 2 worked perfectly with the primer I used. The polyester brush applied the paint really well and there ar...
First-timer!
Wow, this was my first time attempting to paint kitchen cabinets and I couldn’t be happier! Had those ugly “builder oak” cabinets in the new house we bought so I wanted to paint them before moving in. Quotes to have it done we’re over $3000. I decided to give this a try and love the results! I did grey on the lowers and white on uppers. I did clean, sand, and prime first (Valspar stain blocking primer) and I was able to completely cover the oak. Two coats of primer and two coats of paint. Use...
LOVE THIS STUFF!
I’m a fairly seasoned furniture painter with a house full of used, repainted furiture. So far I’ve done 5 projects with this and will never go back to another furniture paint! I’ve sprayed, brushed and rolled this on. Rolling and brushing are my favorite. This paint is thick so you get orange peel with low power sprayers. I’ve done projects from white to dark red and everything in between and with great coverage and no bleed through. My white shelf looks better than any other peice of white...
Not an expert, but not a novice.
My experience is with automotive finishes but my wife wanted a white kitchen. The associate at Lowes pointed me toward this instead of regular latex. He claimed it doesn't need primer but I didn't take his word for it. I was covering older stained oak cabinets so I used a shellac based stain hiding primer after cleaning and light sanding. For the doors & drawers I took them down and sprayed them in the shop. I thinned it down for my sprayer and they turned out amazing with 2 coats. Not wan...
