doesn't work like regular evaporative/swamp cooler

Not as cold as described
We bought this cooler for my husband's mancave. It was very easy to put together (my husband did that as I watched) but not as cold as described. We put the water in the tank as instructed. Now we didnt connect the waterhose for the continuous cold air but for the water in there it just didn't produce the "cold" air like said. Somewhat disappointed.

The oscillation on this fan is a nice feature. But there was nowhere to put the included ice packs. That was wasted effort. This did not help cool the room, it just recirculated the room temp air.

Side work
Cool air forsure. However... sides are open so air is mixed. I had to cover the sides to increase proficiency. Now only air through cooling pads blows out.... otherwise great
