I bought this to replace a cover on a standard 4x4 post. But it's too big. Just sits on top of the post. A strong wind will blow it off.

New Deck Post Cap Replacement

We recently purchased this post cap to replace one with a solar light. The solar light cap was higher and the lawn service people kept knocking it off and breaking it as they climbed the deck stairs. This new deck post cap is lower so it doesn't get hit by their back pack blowers and it matches the solar cap light that we already have. We are happy with this new update to our deck.

too loose

I like the color but the fit is not snug. It is too loose on the post. No hardware included--or directions

Prepare to cut/secure the caps to the sleeves.

They look okay, but do not fit the posts that come with the stair designed rails. We had to cut slots in the back side of the cap to get them to fit over the angled rail at the bottom of the steps. Additionally, the caps need to be secured in some way because they don't fit the post tight - they fall off when grabbed or blow off in a moderate wind.

I gave it one star because I couldn't give it none. This isn't composite, it is plastic, and it isn't for a 4 x 4 post because it's inner base is 4.5 x 4.5

Ask before you leap

Product was ok. Do not like selfserve checkout. Lady came over and started pushing buttons to move me to another register because the one i was st was card only. Thats what i was using but she never ask questions she assumed because I m older i needed her help. IDID NOT!!

Looks nice

This is a nice post cap. Cleans easily. The edges stick out a little bit from the post, so make sure the contractor installs the post a little away from the wall, so the the cap fits on straight, unlike the contractor who installed the posts on my front porch. Also put the cap on the post before installing the stair railing, so the railing will sit below the bottom edge of the post cap. My contractor didn't do that and did a hack job by cutting the post cap edge, which still didn't sit on straig...
