Bear tested
I know this trash can seems expensive but let me tell you how it's worth it in the end. we recently lost 2 trash cans around 60 each that we bear proofed. The straps were still attached but the cans broken. The next night the bear jumped on this one and nothing happened. Will definitely buy another.
Wheels fall off
There must be a defective batch of these because I wasn't the only customer last week to return the $330 + taxes trash can because there are no caps on the ends of the axle to hold the wheels on. You can push an empty cart over Lowe's parking lot, but can't push even an empty one over a gravel drive to the road for pickup. There's no excuse for this. Lowe's was aware of the problem and sold it to us anyway. And, for heaven's sakes--they're a glorified HARDWARE store!! Don't they have any metal ...

Best bear proof trash can!
Since buying this for a rental property it has been well used and still holds up the quality I was needing and looking for!
Excellent but check lid first.
This trash can is definitely rugged! We have had more than one Black Bear try to get it open without success! So, it has proven itself already! The only thing I would mention is to check that the lid closes by itself before buying. We had bought one and had to return it since the lid did not open when the garbage truck lifted it and tilted it to dump. The lid was off-center. I was able to return it without any problems and selected a replacement where the lid closed nicely. It has been used with...
seems pretty tough so far....
solid, well built, should hold up against rough treatment and abuse. Will see how it fares rest of bear season and winter.

Quality Control
We ordered this trash can online and when we went to pick it up and before we left found that the top did not close at all. Lowe's gave us another one to take home and after setting it up leaving it closed outside in the rain, we found the next day water collecting inside. We since returned it as it should be made to be outside and keep the inside dry and animal resistant. Not sure if the issue was from quality control at the factory or shipping and handling at Lowe's.

Heavy duty bear can
We bought this can because we live in area that bears frequent. It’s still winter so we will not know how the can actually does until spring. The garbage can is very well made, sold construction with a heavy lid and better locking feature than those looked at in the past. It is pricey but if it keeps the bears out it will be worth.
