The baskets themselves are great. But they all arrived dirty/dusty and even after washing them, they’re a little discolored. They’re just going in a closet so not worth the hassle to exchange, but the shipping experience was disappointing.
Brittle plastic
I bought 5 of these two years ago for growing tubs. They seemed ok but this year they are breaking apart and are super brittle. I even emptied them and stored in a shed over the winter thinking it would prolong their life. I did buy them because they were the least expensive option not to save money but because I am on a small fixed income. I don't think I'll even get another use out of them next year. I'm very disappointed and hate that they will be added to the ever growing landfills.
Makes Excellent Garden Planters
Hard to find reasonably priced, large, high quality, food safe containers for growing vegetables, these 18 gallon tubs are perfect! I grow exclusively in containers and i have 30 of these in use now. All of my tubs are exposed year round to our southern outdoor climate conditions and are holding up very well, i'm buying 30 more to add to my expanding garden before this spring. If you handle these tubs with reasonable care, they will easily last 10-15 years, you can't beat this price for the qual...
Great for mixing concrete with a paddle mixer
It's not as hard or thick as your typical 5 gallon bucket, but you can't mix a cubic foot of concrete in one of those and you can't beat this price. This fits a cubic foot with room to spare and the side and bottom are smooth so nothing gets stuck. Was concerned from reviews that this was flimsy but it seems tough enough and cheap anyway. Have only mixed one cubic foot so far but appears that it should last. Next will mix a four cubic foot slab and will report back if it doesn't hold up.
Broke after 4 months
I bought 2 of these for school garden uses. It worked great for about 4 months for collecting weeds and transporting mulch in a wagon, then the plastic cracked around the top rim, finally the whole bucket cracked in half! I am so bummed out! It is a great size for general gardening uses, but it doesn't last very long... granted the southwest sun had a role to play in that as well.
Usually Pretty Durable (but got a bad batch)
I have had at least 10 of these over a couple of years and used them for anything from mixing concrete to holding tools and never had a problem. BUT all of a sudden the last 3 I purchased this month blew out on the sides and a few handles pulled through the top. The plastic feels way more brittle. I don't know if they changed the quality or I just got a bad batch.
Hold about 16.8 gallons of water, FYI
I have three of these I use for gardening purposes, generally to hold rainwater overflow. I have added a spigot to one and use it to deliver water-mixed fertilizer and bio-fungicides via pump and drip irrigation. At this price, they can take the direct sunlight in S. Florida until they start crumbling after a couple of seasons, then they can be recycled. They are a bit thin, so I docked a star. They hold just under 17 gallons of water to the rim. They can be found in the storage container area a...
Poor Quality
I bought a couple of these baskets thinking they would be perfect for carrying light debris and for holding small amounts of dirt for projects that I was doing around the yard. I got one use out of them as the quality has a lot to be desired. The first basket lasted all of a few minutes with only 25 pounds of sand in it. It cracked on the bottom and side and the kicker is I didn't even move the bucket. The others also cracked just holding light debris just from being picked up and put in the bac...
Tasty Tomatoes, Magnificent Melons
These bins are perfect for getting the most out of your garden. I grew tomatoes in them in my greenhouse over the winter, and they did so well I've moved them outside for the spring growing season. I've also planted hami melons and acorn squash in them, freeing up garden space for other, non-trailing plants. I drilled plentiful drain holes in the bottom before filling with dirt; the plastic didn't split, and the tubs remained sturdy enough to pick up and move when filled. I'm buying a few more, ...
Gardening/yard refuse tub
The one we had prior lasted at least 10 years stored outside winter and summer and I was pleasantly surprised to find they were still being made. My wife does the gardening and this general purpose tub is light-weight and sturdy. She puts leaves, weeds, sticks and twigs in and it still doesn't weigh much. The nylon rope handles are serious and thick enough not to cut into your hands when full. Simple but well thought out. The frosting is the price - nine bucks and change. That means the las...
