As someone suggested, use a pin to release a tiny corner from the top paper (slip some discarded paper in that sticky spot so you don't lose or crinkle it). Run the sticky side along carpet length, cut end with good scissors, press down along the length then remove paper. I made a 3" cardboard template (and a cardboard spacer at back of step) -- to align the 30" carpet tread per stair. Breathe in breathe out. Very little waste.

We're using the tape on a entry hall rug that gets a lots of wear and tear. We attach the rug o the extra padding we use under it and i is holding very well. The price Is very good fr the generous sized roll.

Best option for golf grip installation

Absolutely the best for attaching golf grips. Add a thin film of mineral spirits and the grips slide on like they were greased. Dries SUPER fast. Clubs are useable within 15 minutes, or so. Not too bad for sticking a throw rug to tile floor, either.

tough job, this tape's up to the job

I cut up a Fo Flor hall runner into stair treads (low profile, easy to clean) for my stairway. They're rubber backed but when the rubber backing gets dusty, they don't stay in place. This tape along the front edge keeps them in place regardless of the foot traffic up and down. The fiberglass threads in the tape makes it fairly easy to lift should you have to when installing.
