Badly built - not square, different lengths, etc
As others described, these are shoddily manufactured. It's ok to have some split and cracked pickets because that's what happens to thin wood, but to miss nails all over, putting 2 within 1 inch on one side of the board and none on the other, or putting them in the seams and missing the boards, etc, is just bad craftsmanship. The worst part is they're not all exactly 8' and they're not square. Had panels up to 1/2" out of square and up to 1/2" longer than 8'. Ended up having to scab some 2x4s on...
