I couldn't agree more with Mraup's previous review. The sanding attachment tabs fail after just a few seconds of operation resulting in a useless sander. We bought 3 sets and the tabs failed almost instantly on all 3 units. I do not know who makes "Skil" tools, but I am finished with whoever it is. There is NO WAY that they don't know this is happening. Shame.
replacement parts no longer made
I bought this little sander at Lowes a few years back and enjoyed using it to finish a table until the pad for the velcro sand paper started to peel from the unit. after a couple of hours worth the use. keep in mind that you can no longer purchase parts for this sander.

This is my second one of these. The swivel attachment broke on the first one. Also the backing pads were coming unglued, possibly because I stored it in the hot garage for several seasons. It wasn’t much more money to just buy a new one rather than the parts, and this sander is reasonably priced. I like that it’s not too heavy as I’m a female. Accessories are cheap
The sander works just fine, but I bought it for the attachments so I could get into small and difficult to sand areas. The first time I used the attachment base, after about an hour using it it started popping off. I called Skil, they said this has been a problem and they are sending a new one. This is my second octo sander and the first one also broke but it lasted a lot longer.

I bought this sander about two years ago, and I’ve used it for 5 or 6 light jobs around the house. I pulled the sander out recently, and it started but would stop when any pressure was applied. Now the sander will barely run at all. It appeared on the Skil website that the product should still be under warranty. It's great except...... For the attachment
I just got this sander today and thought it was wonderful...... except the extension plate. I used it for 5 minutes and the clips melted and the extension will no longer work. It won't stay locked in and can't be used. Im not understanding why this is the only extension not made out of the thicker black material. Very disappointed
