Perfect for cabinets
Although it is more of a bluish gray it worked out great for me. I used it to cover ugly golden oak cabinets. All it took was a light sanding and the stain took right to the wood. The thickness of the stain helped cover the "orangy" look of the cabinets, but still let the grain show through. It IS important to wipe it off within a few minutes with a soft cloth, and let it dry overnight. All it took was one coat to achieve the look that I wanted. Great product....too bad, I got halfway through st...
Awesome stuff!
Used the 'weathered gray' on a giant wooden sword I made for my son and it turned out incredibly awesome! Brushed on thick, waited two minutes, wiped off with a stain pad. Did that once a day for three days and WOW! I bought the Rust-Oleum because it had a price drop in my local Lowes and I think Rust-Oleum is my go to for stains now! Also stained another sword #much smaller# in the Kona and I have to say I am in love! Going to use this stuff for staining some wood around the house.

Yes, It's Confederate Gray!
Read the other reviews, I was interested in a blue/gray stain and this was even on sale, so decided to give it a go! Using some old weathered wood and some new wood and this was exactly what I needed to bring the two types of wood together for a great weathered, barn-siding look! Perfect for cabinets and accent furniture at our lake home!
Comes off as Blue Paint
I totally agree with most of the assessments here. Tried to stain a few crates with this and it looked awful. Came out looking like a horrible paint job, and this isn't even paint. And the color barely qualifies as gray, most of those who I showed quickly claimed that it was blue. Thought it was me at first, but after using other stains, it's pretty clear this one just isn't worth the trouble.
Very dissappointed in this "stain"
Maybe my idea of a wood stain is wrong. I thought a stain is a thin liquid that gives wood a particular hue. This is more like gray paint. It doesn't look like weathered wood in the least. I can't even tell if there's wood underneath or some other material. I've ruined one of my bead board panels and set my project back. Hopefully Lowe's will return at least the one unopened can I purchased.
Indeed... It's blue.
I'm heartbroken that I didn't read these reviews (or think to test a separate patch of wood) before going to town on my new table and crossing my fingers that it turned out gray when it dries... because it is straight up BLUE. No gray about it... blue. Unless you want blue, don't get this gray stain.
Blue
As others have said about this product, it is very blue. Not even a hint of gray. It is more like a paint or outdoor stain as it covers almost 100%. To get it to look more like a stain I suggest brushing it on but immediately wiping it off. Still. Its blue.
This is Blue Paint
The stain is blue not gray at all. I was so dissappointed. It is more like paint too not stain. It is thicker than stain. Highly do not reccommend unless you are looking to paint something blue.
