Not a good choice for staining

1. I had to look through many doors to find two that did not have noticeable chips/nicks. The door should be packaged better to prevent damage. 2. The veneer is paper thin, so if you do need to sand the finish be very careful you do not go through the outer layer. 3. The veneer appears to be made out of different woods materials, so using the same stain will likely result in a noticeable difference in the finish.

Poor quality - worse customer service

I ordered thousands of dollars of oak jeld wen doors from lowes. The veneer was so thin that the manufacturing glue seeped through and prevented the veneer from absorbing stain leaving spots. When i inquired about a remedy, customer service at jeld wen was initially responsive but refused to suggest a remedy and then became unresponsive. Is fine, should have checked it out more at store,1 corner dinged and small mar on surface but fine for it's intended use

The associate picked out a pair of perfectly matched door slabs for me to use for construction of a barn door for my sliding glass door.
