Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The pleated paper window shades are generally viewed as a good temporary or inexpensive solution. Many found them easy to install and cut to size, providing decent light filtering and privacy. However, some common issues were the adhesive not holding well and the shades not reaching the full window length as claimed. Overall, they seem to work well for many people's needs, especially as a temporary or budget-friendly option, but may not be a long-term solution for all users.

Easy to install just like the 36" variant, HOWEVER all four of my 48" shades fell off within a week. I did not prepare the drywall in the window coves for their adhesive, but the 36" shades are still up so I'm not sure what the deal is with the 48" shades. Just using some scotch tape should be enough to keep them up. The other issue I had was for my taller windows, around 58", I had to tape them bottom of the shades to the window sill to keep the bottom down. They naturally hang down to around 4...
Misleading Length, Beware paper cuts
Low review due to total cheapskate move of not making something as cheap as paper, long enough, to fulfill their claim. They say 72", they mean the piece of paper is 72" long, but the shade will only hang at about 50" long, with looking pleated. The only way to make the shade 72" to cover a 69" window, is to pull it down and tape the bottom and then it is just a piece of paper. And trying to use the clips to hold it up, during the day, takes several minutes of folding and you get paper cuts from...
Good temporary solution
It’s definitely a TEMPORARY solution for window covering. The sticky tape on the blinds suck despite wiping & cleaning the area of dust, only sticky for about 2 days before falling off. I had to tape to wall until our window were replaced so I could put up the actual blinds. When it says light filtering, it means 60% of lighting will come through.
Don’t buy
Terrible they just keep falling off. Won’t stay up . Two of them fell off and the tape edges touch the shade and trying to pull it apart it just ripped . I tossed them in the trash. Don’t waste your money just hang up a towel .
Good Temporary Solution
I bought two of these shades as a temporary fix for a house I am renovating. Pros: they are dirt cheap, look good and couldn’t be easier to install. Cons: the length is measured as the paper is fully stretched. My windows are 71” L, so the 72” shade is too short. Also, the adhesive is not very strong, especially if you are using the widest 48” shade. I ended up purchasing 3M Scotch double-sided mounting tape and added strips of that onto both ends and the middle. Provided a much stronger bond t...
Doesn't stick to wall.
It didn't stick to a painted, textured surface...at all. Fell within seconds of first application. Then minutes within 3rd, 4th & 5th attempts. Finally used a couple of 3M command strips.
Won't Stay Up
I was hoping to use this for 2 weeks while my real blinds were in transit. The adhesive only held up for 2 days, then the shade fell. Now it only lasts a couple hours. Two stars because you get what you pay for, and this is super cheap.
Excellent Solution
These work perfectly not only as a temporary solution but also as a more permanent one. I use thumb tacks to provide additional strength to the tape which is affixed to blind and have never had a failure in six years. I left them up when I added curtains because these provide additional insulation to the windows and that is important to help lessen high energy bills.
Failed In 12 Hours
In less than 12 hours after installing it on a clean smooth window opening, the double-sided adhesive strip failed and the shade fell to the floor. This left the street facing window uncovered all day showing no one was home. Worse, as it fell, the adhesive strip stuck strongly to the surface of the shade, so when I pulled it apart, the adhesive visibly damaged the shade. If you use it, use something extra to afix it to the window opening: blue painters tape, staples, etc. otherwise it's utter...
Dimensions very deceiving …
I would have thought that a 72” blind would fully cover a 72” window. It’s not even close! It’s at least 2 feet short of that. I suspect if you pulled it totally flat it might reach 72”, but it certainly does not in its accordion state. I would suggest buying significantly longer than you think you need. On the plus side, it’s 7 bucks.
