What Customers Are Saying
The clay chiminea appears to have mixed reviews. While some customers report getting good use out of it, the majority indicate the product is prone to cracking and breaking, often after just the first or second use. The main issues seem to be the low quality of the materials, with the clay being particularly susceptible to cracking, especially when exposed to moisture or larger fires. Some customers were able to get longer-lasting use by using smaller fires and keeping it covered, but overall the consensus is that this clay chiminea is not a reliable or durable option.

I bought this, my wife and I have always thought it would be great to have, now with kids it made since. Very excited, we followed the instructions with a small fire and it cracked on the lip of the opening.
Fail
I bought this 3 months ago. Probably used 15 times. Cracked & then fell apart. Worthless!
Love It!
Aside from the fact that you have to find shorter logs than usual, I love the fireplace. Be sure to get a fireproof mat though, because embers do fall out of the feet at the bottom.
Love it!
Looks great. Makes a great fire. We added a few things. Set it on a cement paver so it could be on our deck. Filled the base with lava rock to help pull some of the heat out of the base. Added a 10" terracotta planter base so the ashes would be easier to dump. Holds a great little fire. Cute little smoke plume comes out of the top. We love it. There were a lot of good directions with it. We read them all cover to cover and followed them. Built a small fire to begin with to allow it to...
Good for a summer
Bought it Memorial Day 2015, it lasted all summer but i cracked this spring. It is clay and it did start cracking later on in the fall which I believe was due to the rain. I would suggest you bring it inside (garage) to avoid it through the winters if you live in the Jersey area. I didn't bring mine in so unfortunately mine didn't last long and literally fell apart into pieces about a month ago when I went to light it. Spend a few extra $$$ on a better one.
one and done
One fire in this cute pit. as soon as the fire started going it cracked down the center all the way around. No good!!

Used it Once!
Cracks appeared in about 30 minutes....complete cracks after about 90 minutes of use.
Perfect size for patio
Happy and pleased with Chiminea so far - no cracking (as some of the reviews have mentioned). We started with small fires for first 3-4 times using the fire wood that we also purchased from Lowes - clean and already in small logs which we chopped into smaller pieces for ease of starting and handling. Would def recommend this - such a nice addition to our patio - looks great, just the right size too. We also followed the suggestion to keep covered (using a large heavy duty lawn and leaf bag) when...

Chiminea
I read all the bad reviews but this works just fine as long as you read the instructions and start your fires accordingly. I've used mine several times in cold and warm weather and have had no problems--not even the slightest crack.
