Review before buy. know your usage.
This Rebar is light and easy to use and cut for straight line input, but you cannot bend it or make corner ties strong. you have to overlay the ends for at least two to three feet to get the strength you need. If you are adding to an existing pour you can't bend it up or down for keeping it is line. Make sure you are drilling holes straight in the existing concrete. It cost more than the old steel rebar per foot and size. I would not use this product again. It does have its purpose for reenforci...
No more Lightning Rods for Me!
I purchased this fiberglass rebar to use in place of steel rebar. I used it to install a temperate fence to corral my Great-Grandchildren and to keep my neighbors chickens off my property. I used it along with green plastic fence. It worked great and I didn’t have a yard full of lightning rods. It cut much easier with a 4” grinder and cutting disk but wear gloves, mask and eye protection. I also setup a fan to blow the dust in a safe direction away from me. I without a doubt would recommen...
Light and straight but watch out for the splinters
I used this in a concrete counter top, it works great because it's completely straight, it's easy to cut (I used a grinder but you can use a saw too), it's really light... BUT... you get splinters just picking this stuff up, without cutting it. Wear gloves if you don't want to be dealing with a thousand splinters you can't even see!
Great for garden stakes
I use these as garden stakes they work well for heavier needs as you can hammer them in and yet they still provide some give when trying to straighten up a small tree or whatever. Moreso than the flimsy ones in the garden center. Just have to watch out for fiber glass splinters when handling.
Pink bar, the green rebar.
This product acts and feels like regular steel rebar but doesn't rust so it won't scale. It is made from fiberglass so it doesn't require the effort and energy to make steel, so it has a softer energy footprint. Marketing materials and spec sheets say that it works just like regular steel rebar except that it cannot be bent. It was fine for my application.
Visicious Splinters
Pinkbar is an innovative new fiberglass product that is not without issues. Despite the FAQ and product literature, consumers have a high risk of receiving painful splinters that are invisible to the naked eye. Wear disposable gloves when handling or cutting, and also don both a particle respirator and safety glasses with wraparound coverage. The rating I gave this product is based on the manufacturer's poor support and documentation of what should be required safety procedures. I would stay...
Easily Managed
I was able to cut it with my jigsaw was really nice! I needed one piece of rebar for my project. If I had to use steel rebar then I would still be outside cutting it into 22” lengths. It is lightweight, easily cut and easy to manage.
Use leather gloves to handle
I purchased this to use for stakes around my garden to string fishing line to keep the deer out of the garden. Had to cut it in the parking lot to fit in the car. Used a hacksaw and it cut easily. It is fiberglass which leaves nasty splinters even with some gloves. Wear leather gloves to handle
Wear Gloves, dangerous
Picked these up for a project that will have a lot of moisture regularly and they are great but being new to them I grabbed it and ended up with fiberglass all over in my hand for weeks. Wear gloves that you will never touch to face or any part of body. Use leather to be safe. Very bad. weeks of pain from bare hands
I’ll stick with the steel
Bought this because they were out of the steel rebar. It is overpriced , costing 3 dollars more each. You’re out of luck if you need to bend it because you can’t. Steel is the better option for many reasons
