Ball joint apparatus
My wife chose this item based on looks. I didn't like the ball joint coupler to the water line pipe. The shower head ball joint apparatus doesn't leave much room to work with. The fitting is 7/8". But you can't get a box end wrench on the fitting to properly tighten it without marring the finish of the fitting. I ended up using locking pliers to grab the fitting. A simple shower head should not be a challenge to install.

Great coverage or just a bit where needed
The only thing I would change or add to this showered is the ability to rotate left and right since our old house's piping to which the head is mounted is not exactly centered over the tub, making the area of shower fixed a little too much to one side. The head moves up and down, allowing good coverage for people of different heights. And when you use both the shower head and the mounted hand held simultaneously, the coverage is very nice over a greater distance from the shower head.
