What Customers Are Saying
Customers praise the beautiful, professional-looking finish and rich color that brings out natural wood grain, with many finding it easy to apply using rags or foam rollers. However, a substantial group reports serious issues including uneven drying, streaking, brush marks, and tackiness requiring reapplication. Several users note the all-in-one format sacrifices control compared to separate stain and polyurethane. A few mention lumps in the can and unclear stirring instructions. Despite strong satisfaction with results among those who succeed, many disappointed customers advise against it.

Ordered and they delivered to the wrong address. Had to call 3 times and go into the store. They showed me a picture of the delivery to a white door. I showed them a picture of our door which is black. It shouldn't be this hard to get a refund. Send the drive back out to the door they 'think' was my house. Ugh!!!

Not a good choice for me
Review Polyshade After using PolyShades all in one my choice is to strip the oak table and chairs again or trash them PolyShades was blotchy and uneven. Unfortunately, this all-in-one polyurethane stain cannot be adjusted the way regular stain can be. This stuff is impossible to apply without the finish looking as though a 5-year-old did it. It’s globby, uneven and just plain awful to use. It’s almost as though it clots. I’ve refinished many pieces over the years but nothing has failed lik...

Terrible to work with, came out looking horrible
I have used a lot of different minwax products for various staining and finishing work and its always came looking good. I bought this thinking I could save some time as I don't really have a place to store a project for any amount of time so a one stop stain and poly seemed like a good solution. This was a terrible idea. The second I started applying the product, I knew it was going to turn out terrible. It says to apply thin layers but that is impossible as it is the consistency of 1/2 dried g...

Disaster
I've seen this product out there for years, there is often nothing else to buy. I got it to match some area of floor but then read it's not for use with floors. I have a rack which I needed to finish, didn't care about the color., so I thought I'd use it. I normally use Minwax clear polyurethane. This stuff is very hard to use as every drip and brush stroke shows up very dark whereas thin areas are light. . You can't wipe it off, you have to keep brushing. Plus often you think you're ok, then l...

LIGHTER GLOSS SHADES > DARKER COLOR SHADES?
Honestly everyone that is complaining about this product must be using the wrong type of brush, shopping too much on at once, or are just not prepping their object correctly. Granted it does seem the darker colors do not give you a ton of leeway for error. I've use three different products in the polyshade line now and I've had the most success with the gloss pecan. It does come out with a high sheen to it but just looks absolutely amazing. Everything is pretty much uniform; color, shine, covera...

This product is a nightmare!
I saw this product and it sounded like the perfect stain...I sanded the table top down to the wood cleaned it and put the first coat on and everything seemed fine. I let it dry overnight. In the morning I used fine steelwool and went over it then I used a tack rag and wiped it off. So far so good...I began to put the second coat on and the stain seemed thicker then the day before. I was using the same kind of brush I used the day before but it was going on heavier and it was harder to get the ...

Refinisher beware
I found this produce very hard to work with, perhaps because of the combination of stain and poly -- streaky colors and gummy application. Using steel wool between coats, (as directed) is a mistake, even after 7 hours of drying time as it sticks to some parts of the finish that were apparently not fully cured. I wish I'd stayed with the traditional two step strain and finish process.
