This mantel was very difficult to mount. We tried to install ourselves as we both are pretty good with DIY. The "French cleat" did not have a tight hold the way it should. We hired someone to mount it and he said the screws included with the mantel were not long enough. Ended up having to use additional screws from the top of the mantel into the studs to get a secure fit. Very pretty though.

Beautiful mantel, easy installation
This mantel is beautiful; just what we've been looking for. It is sturdy and stylish, and installation was simple and straightforward. Please note that no hardware is included. We ended up using four 3" wood screw and it feels secure.

Warped cleat
Hollow mantel attaches to wall with a French Cleat. Cleat is warped and twisted, won't allow mantel to hang. Am contacting MFG to discuss replacement cleat rather than trying to modify/cut down/ re- cut angles to mount. I'll let you know what they say, right now this is a 1of 1 rating with no recommendation.
