Disappointing

I am a chalk paint junkie! I have used several brands over the years and was so excited to try this paint. I had high expectations. The packaging is typical for a can of paint. You open and close the can as you would any other paint. I gave the can a thorough shaking to mix before opening. Upon opening there was no noticeable odor, the paint was well mixed and the white color was a true pure white. So far so good. Great find

I found this chalk paint base in the clearance section at Lowe’s It was actually marketed down to $7.00 a quart. I have never used this brand before but for $7.000, why not. It didn’t disappoint. I bought 6 quarts in 3 different colors. So far I have only used a blue color, but I love how it turned out. I also love how smooth it goes on. Good purchase. I can’t wait to paint something else.

Terrible result

The color is beautiful but the results were absolutely terrible. I’ve used Annie Sloan in the past, so this wasn’t my first time using chalk paint. There was all of this residue in the bottom of the can leading me to believe it wasn’t mixed properly. The result even after me trying to stir it well at home was white streaks. It’s not worth the money for this product.

Quality Chalk Paint

I chose Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines Americana Egg Water-based Tintable Chalky Paint because my wife owns a resale shop and upcycles lots old wooden pieces as well as making wooden wall hanging signs for holiday and special events. She currently uses a couple of chalk paints, one from the local discount store and one esoteric brand that is very good, but harder to get. Poor quality

I have used Annie Sloan chalk paint and was happy with the results. Not so with the Magnolia chalk paint. It required two coats which was surprising since I was using the color chalkboard over a previous thin coat of black paint. It still was streaky, did not cover well, easily wiped off after 3 days of curing. I used it on a another piece of furniture with worst results. Best Chalk Paint … Ever!

I’ve used a lot of paint in my life but this stuff tops them all. Cabinets went from the deepest navy blue enamel to soft Blue/green/grey chalk paint - in one coat. When the paint had tried, it took on the most mellow, serene colouring and made my kitchen a showplace. The paint is incredible easy to work with. Rich texture, smooth glide and dries fast. Magnolia Home chalk style paint This is a Joanna Gains branded one quart of white “base” paint which needs to be tinted of you want color. I would call the base a brilliant white. This paint is produced by KILZ paints and is pretty high quality. It will give you a chalky texture on materials, not sure it is really good for writing with chalk as the painted surface will be a bit porous. Gorgeous Chalk Paint

Not that I had any doubts that a product put out by the Magnolia brand would be great, but this chalk paint is wonderful thanks to its smooth consistency making it glide like butter onto the project surface. Good coverage chalk paint

I selected this chalk paint because I've always liked the look of it vs/ traditional latex paint. I tend to decorate with a lot of vintage items and Chalk Paint has a less bold appearance that tends to fit with my aesthetic. Do not place anywhere near the floor

Wonderful product that adds character in the paint, but is easily removed. It’s meant for furniture, cement, things of the nature so I used it on my fireplace which is brick. I mopped over it once (there’s a section of the floor that’s painted in the brick) & theres a spot that lifted. So beware of that. Overall it’s fast drying (1 hour) and looks amazing!
