Looks nice, but not solid wood as I think of it

The overall finish was nice, which I guess is the most important part. However, both pieces (the post itself and the lower trim box) were wrapped in about a 1/8" veneer. I suppose the internals were still oak, but I was a little disappointed that the cheaper posts I replaced were true solid wood.

Check the dimensions! Not 4.25in, actually 4.5in

Product is listed as 4.25 in wide, it's actually 4.5 in+. Lower sleeve is a loose fit, so there is an inconsistent gap between the sleeve and main post. Replacing some 4.25" post, so it's the only reason I ordered them. Returned them and putting in some 4.5" posts I found at half the price.
