The Krylon High Heat Paint has received mixed reviews. While some users found the paint easy to apply and durable, the majority reported issues such as bubbling, blistering, and peeling when exposed to high heat. The paint was also described as having a thin, watery consistency leading to uneven application and visible brush strokes. Additionally, users complained about strong, noxious fumes and the color not matching the advertised black. Overall, the consensus is that this paint is not suitable for high-heat applications and should be avoided, especially for indoor use.

I realize the ideal application for this is probably not exhaust parts, but given the description says it's good to 1000°. I went ahead with it. the exhaust on the vehicle I was working with only gets to about half of that on the worst day. After taking my time and applying several coats of this after the first drive ..... It took all of 15 minutes for it to bubble and peel away. I might as well have purchased regular enamel for that kind of performance. I have to pull these parts back out from ...
High Heat Paint
Very easy to apply. Used both roller and brush. Adhered well to metal. Used in April 2023 so cannot assess durability at this time.
Was returned but didn't get our paperwork back which I didn't realize untill I checked on the status of the return.
Ruined my large offset smoker
Despite my reservations, I foolishly chose this supposedly reliable paint for my maintenance cycle. Every 2-3 yeas I will restore the paint on my Old Country Pecos offset smoker that I bought new in 2017. My usual choice of paint is Rust-oleum. Unfortunately, I veered from a proven product to this. After letting this "high heat" paint sit and dry for four days, a nasty and likely toxic odor was released from bubbling paint the second my firebox came up to temp. To make matters worse, instead ...

WHAT A MESS!!
I understand that this "paint" is probably the way it is because it's a high-heat "paint" (???), but it's more like water or a stain! Oh my goodness, I wish I would've had gloves, I was a mess! Even after using a primer on my tile fireplace this stuff still took 3 coats to get it covered. It took way longer than my usual Behr latex paint, but I had to use it. Never again will I use a this or any other "paint" like this.

If your interior of your fireplace is ugly- paint
Love it!
Overall a good solution when there are no others
Genuinely very happy with this product. I've searched for another high heat solution but this is literally the only one I could find. It gets the job done well so far and is holding up to the heat very well.
