What Customers Are Saying

Customers praise the trimmer's impressive power, comparing it favorably to gas models and noting it handles thick grass and dense vegetation without bogging down. Battery life and quick charging are major strengths, with many completing full sessions on one charge and appreciating interchangeable batteries across other tools. However, a substantial group reports significant frustration with the automatic line feed system, which depletes string too rapidly and frequently jams or breaks. Some also cite build quality concerns, including spool caps cracking and units failing within a year. Despite these drawbacks, most customers find the power and convenience worthwhile.

Great weed eater

Would Recommend

This weed eater has been in the family for about 8 years now. It still works great. It is very easy to use and still has a lot of power. It is nice that it aromatically feeds the string. Since the purchase of this model (KST 120X-06), Lowes no longer sells this model.

Poor Quality

Would Not Recommend

I bought this trimmer on 23 May 2015. It lasted about three years until the guard broke and it would no longer cut the string when needed. I attempted to repair it with super glue to no avail. I called Kobalt Tools about a replacement part and was told that none was available. This supposedly has a five year warranty, but it is six years old now so that is not an option. I tried several aftermarket guards but none would work on this trimmer.

Works great. I wish it had wheels so when you turn it over to edge, it would be easier to handle. Also suggest a strap of some kind to wear around your shoulder for further support.
