The John Deere S170 lawn tractor is the premium 48-inch deck model of the 100 Series line up. The 24-HP V-Twin John Deere Extended Life Series (ELS) engine has plenty of power to handle tough mulching, mowing and bagging conditions (coverage up to 2 acres). The ride is comfortable. The S170 features a heavy-duty hydrostatic transmission, side-by-side foot pedals, enhanced styling, adjustable controls, 15-in open back seat, cruise control, easy read fuel gauge, front bumper, larger front/rear wheels and tires, fender flares and LED headlights. The 48-inch Edge Cutting System is also time-tested and proven to offer superior cut quality and can be easily equipped to bag or mulch. The S170 also includes the John Deere Easy Change 30-Second Oil Change System, the original All-In-One oil and oil filter canister that allows anyone to easily change their tractor oil with no hassles and no mess.

NOT ENOUGH HORSE POWER

So disappointed in John Deere quality. This mower smells like burnt motor oil when cranking up. It rattles when cutting grass, more like a metal sounding. It leaves grass uneven, seems like the grass the front tires run over that there's not enough horsepower to even cut that. I tried running engine wide open, still doesn't cut that grass even with the other cut grass. It kinda appears that where the pullies are....not sure it's power or pullies.....my grass looks PITIFUL. I've owned 4 oth...

Lowes or their Employee came thru.

I was not happy about my order for the John Deere mower / tractor 🚜. Lowes accepted the order and gave me a delivery date. Two days before the delivery date a human called to explain that they were out of stock. Well, the gal on the phone was not responsible for this glaring error... I just wanted my mower , that's why I ordered it., Uff - Dahh. She didn't blink and offered a bit better mower but, I would have wait another week. Not thrilled but what am I to do... reschedule everything......
