It's dense. I like that. It's about 5/16". I wish it were 1/2". That would give me more for the screws to bite into. That's just me, though. It's quite heavy.

How much each sheet weighs
I like the idea of cement fiber board, being in a fire zone gives me a little comfort with fire resistance. The 4x 8 sheets are heavy and difficult to work with. I cut the boards smaller in order to hang them easier. They were easy to cut and look great after installed. I like the many different finish options available.
