The JET 13-Inch Planer produces a smooth and consistent cut surface thanks to its helical-style cutterhead with 6 rows of 26 individual quick change inserts which can be easily rotated or replaced if damaged or worn. This helical style cutter head design helps reduce noise as its powerful 2-HP 15-Amp Motor is turning at an impressive 10,000 RPM. Features include a rugged four-post design, adjustable folding tables, two infeed speeds, and a sturdy cast iron bed which helps reduce snipe.

I was looking for a planer that had enough power without jumping up into the industrial price range. I’m not running a business — just doing a little side work here and there — and this planer looks like it’ll keep up perfectly with my pace. I saw and dry my own lumber, so I’ll come back with an update once I’ve put it through its paces.
