Choose your French doors wisely
I dont know if this door was used or installed prior but the live door was warped sticking out 2' at bottom the dead door was right on, and a whole day wasted trying to tweak it with no success. The door was also picked by lowes staff to give to me so seems like they gave me the bottom of the barrel. The door had no points off attachment to keep it secure while transporting it it was just free swinging. A gamble.
Door looks nice, was installed plumb, squared on all sides, confirmed with levels, measurements. Right panel warped inward, not lined up properly with left panel, has to be pushed hard to lock. Not huge but you should not have to do this for a new door in perfect weather. Tech support is virtual. You follow instructions of tech person as you go on all sides with a level to show frame is correct, but not the panel. Check door carefully
Door came extremely dirty, like it was stored outside for a year. Screw in from the top to hold doors during shipping was stripped and into the fiberglass. Had to get a vibrating hack saw tool to cut through the screw, then I had to repair the fiberglass. No instructions. The door bottom insulating wedges (normally to be installed by the user) were stuck on halfway up the side of the door. IF IT WASN'T FOR BUILD SCHEDULE, I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED DOOR. The sill extender in the Jeld-Wen Jamb and Sill Extension kit did not fit the door I received. From what I understand, this door had been on the shelf for a long time with someone's name on it, and they supposedly never followed through with the purchase.
