So this is probably going to be a long review! This is for my house to replace a "builder quality" single-pane aluminum frame sliding door that is in my bedroom. I thought about a regular 60x80 steel clad French door until I saw Jeld-Wen offered a fiberglass version (F-3500) and then I found they had a "larger glass" fiberglass version (F-4500). Disappointing and frustrating.

I ordered the door and the delivery date was not met. Every week I waited, I was given a new delivery date that was not met. In fact, it took another 4 weeks for it to arrive at my local store. During those 4 winter weeks, construction was halted and my home was without a door. Every few days I called customer service and visited the store seeking answers for the multiple delays, however, neither Lowe’s, nor Jeld-Wen took responsibility for it, and for those 4 weeks neither could tell me if the ...

Door was delayed for over 2 weeks. We picked it up a Lowes to save money on delivery and found out they don’t pack the door with any styrofoam or anything to protect the glass. Luckily, we got it to the house in one piece. The builder put it in and then we found out Jeld-Wen installed the lock incorrectly. The keyhole is on the inside of the house and the lock on the outside. I’ve tried calling Lowe’s and nobody can give me an answer on how to get a replacement door.

problem after problem. door was ordered as outswing. brickmould trim was included not installed. was precut to fit INSIDE of door too short to fit EXTERIOR. required jamb extension that was an entire additional problem. instructions included were so generic that it did not include outswing french door. definitely will never buy a jeld wen product again

Be prepared to wait

This review isn’t about the door itself, but about the wait time, which buyers should be aware of. I ordered the door online on 8/18/25 with a listed pickup date of 9/15/25. That date stayed the same until 9/16, when the status switched to “delayed” without explanation. On 9/19, I called Lowe’s support, who contacted JeldWen and told me the door wouldn’t be available until at least 10/30/25. Arrived as expected and as described in the order information. Delivered where I requested and without any damage. Installation was quite easy apart from the weight but still accomplished myself. Quality is very nice and function meets my expectations.

unbelievably poor quality control

I ordered 2 of these doors. The locks on both doors were installed on the wrong side (the key mechanism is on the inside of the door). The bottom vertical locking mechanism on one of the doors doesn't function. The striker and door stop is installed on the wrong side of the other door. How does a door (or in this case 2 doors) get manufactured this way and then how do they make it through quality control? Height Spec is Inaccurate - Quality Issue - Beware

Lowes website spec shows this out-swing door unit to be Actual Height of 79.5", which is a common door measurement. We ordered this, took delivery after 4-5 weeks, and had it installed. Turns out it is only 78.0" high. Of course no one noticed until the job was done.
