Although overall the door works well and was easy to install, there's some design issues with the lock. My cat is a rather hefty boy, hence, why I purchased this product. However, although it's marketed toward the "chubby cat", they underestimated the persistence of a large cat attempting to cross the threshold. I've locked the door at times to prevent him from entering the room. He just busts through it like the kool-aid man. The lock is simply not sufficient to stop him.

Easy install

This is a easy install. The door works nicely. I really like the magnet that helps keep it closed. The locking feature is a big plus

works great! Can keep Basement door closed while cat accesses the basement...

Don't understand the good reviews

I can't stress how terrible the quality of this pet door is. My parents have used Chubby Kat doors for years and I guess they don't make them like they used to. The flap blowed open at the slightest breeze, the door would consistently get stuck when the cat went out, the lock would also stick and it was very difficult to lock it. good purchase

Bought as replacement for original Chubby Cat pet door (which is what this one is listed as from same manufacture) purchased approx 8 years ago as the hinges of the old one along with the felt trim on the edges are now worn out and door was sitting at an angle in the frame. Don't tell my 2 Dachshunds that this is a cat door. This replacement door is missing the small step on the outside of pet door that was on the original door. wierd for dogs

Bought this to replace a ripped vinyl type small doggie door, only problem is, little dogs had a hard time adjusting to the more, "solid" feel of this purchase.. Eventually they got over it and go in and out with ease. There has been a few accidents on the rug and in front of the doggie door during the transition, but I like the new one better anyway. Funny note, .... the name of this door is, chubby kitty.....I laugh every time my dogs use it!

Don't tell my dogs....

...that they are using a cat door. Our dogs are 12 pounders. So a medium doggy door was a bit too large. So I opted for a Fat Cat sized door to relocate our doggy door displaced by a kitchen remodeling. They were a bit confused at first with the clear door, but have gotten use to it now. The magnetics and the solid door work great. And the latching gives it a good barricade for when we want it locked. And no more loose slide-in blocking doors sitting around. Very happy with the new door.

Good Quality, Hard to Open

We have 3 cats of varying sizes. We bought the larger door for our large cat. While it is easier for him to get in and out, it now takes a lot more for the smaller cats to open the door. The weight of the plastic and the little magnet that keeps it closed just make it harder for the smaller cats to push it open. The quality is good though and it was easy to install. I like that it has screws connecting both sides together, our old one had a sticky pad for one side (which fell off within a week)....

Works well but needs improvements

Works really well but needs a stronger magnet to help keep the door closed. I like the clear view window for my cats to look out and see what's outside.
