What Customers Are Saying
The mower has a reliable engine and good mulching capabilities, but can be difficult to maneuver, especially when reversing or working around obstacles. The self-propelled drive is reported to be overly sensitive and fast, making it hard to control. Some users also experienced issues with clogging or uncut grass. Overall, the mower appears capable but has design flaws that may make it challenging to use, especially for smaller yards with more obstacles.

The deck to tire lift mechanism under the mower deck will scalp the yard like a shovel. Do not buy this lawn mower unless you have a perfect flat yard. Very bad design. Buyer beware.
The drive does disengage to go backwards!
After reading several reviews of people complaining about the drive not "disengaging" to freely pull the lawn mower backwards, I realized that it took me quite some time to figure this part out. If you need to pull the lawn mower backwards immediately after disengaging the drive function for instance, going around a tree, what you should do is disengage the drive bar a few seconds earlier than you initially disengaged it, or another way to put it is make sure you walk a few steps forward after d...
Very depenable
We've had is for quite awhile. The only things we've done is replace the blade that we wore our, a drive pulley for the rear wheel drive, cable to enable lever. (top orange one), and an axle bushing. I can't find a screen for the gas tank that finally failed. The engine works great.
Starts on first pull every time!!!
I have owned this mower for five years now. I keep up with the required maintenance schedule and it has always performed well. I wanted the 190cc motor, but it was only available in the awd model without the high back wheels.
Great lawn mower
I dont know why people are giving this mower a bad rating I have owned mine for 2 years or more and I have not had one problem yet. These people must not know how to operate a mower to well. But the bag is kind of small but not a big deal. The reason it's hard to drag backwards is because of the rear wheel drive all you need to do is let off on the drive handle roll forward a few inches let the rear drive disengage and it will roll backwards just fine. It starts easy one or two pulls and its run...

BEWARE OF LOWES EXTENDED PROTECTION PLAN
Mower stopped running after 5 months. Bought the Lowes extended warranty so I thought I was OK. Not so!!! When I brought it in for service Lowes pressured me to sign a form that I was responsible for all charges over $120 for the repair! Not the 100% repair or replacement that they told me when I bought the extended protection plan. Said they would not take the mower for repair unless I signed it. They only took the mower in for repair after I threatened the manager with a complaint to the State...
Great Little Mower
Started on the first pull. It did not have the issue that some had mentioned on pulling it backwards. When I released the drive, it pulled back easily. A few time I did push it forward a few inches to release the wheels, it's in the instructions. But I would say that it was not an issue. The variable speed drive is great. Great power. I would great recommend!
Honda engine
I bought this mower this summer and it works great, BUT it is very hard starting and that is what I wanted to avoid by buying the Honda powered model. I spoke with the people at Lowes and they recommended using premium fuel over regular so I will try that in the spring, otherwise it's a great machine.
Scotty - Thanks for this 4-star review!
Gearcase Assembly Defective
I had this lawn mower for two years and the self-propelled gear train seized up preventing you from pulling the mower backwards without shutting off the mower. I troubleshot the problem, replaced belts, pulleys, and cords and localized the issue to the Gearcase Assemble (part# 581-68-08-01, ~$79). This assembly is part of the rear axle (not just an attachment)and requires disassembly of the entire back half of the lawn mower to replace. At this cost for just parts, I might as well just spend ...
Great Mower- Poor service support
Had this lawn mower for a couple of years, Runs great, mows good except does not mulch very good. For the drive assist they have metal drive gear matching up with the plastic gear made into the wheel. The plastic in the wheel is not very durable and it will give problems. When you need a part, good luck, the phone service is next to none. I say this because I waited fifteen min. on the phone then they hung up on me. Lowes tried to help but their not in the repairing business so I had a local ser...
