The Honeywell 1540 CFM Indoor or Outdoor Evaporative Air Cooler offers an energy-efficient cooling option when the air is hot with low humidity, such as desert areas like the Southwest United States (recommended humidity level is 60% or less for maximum efficiency). Honeywell Evaporative Air coolers do not require power hungry components like compressors. The low power consumption (only 220 watts) translates into significant savings on energy bills compared to using air conditioners. Just unpack, add water/ice, plug it in, and use. For outdoor use, the CO60PM is weather resistant and UV protected and has an air throw up to 33 feet. For indoor use, place near an open door or window in an area up to 850 square feet with adequate cross ventilation. For those living in more humid climates, consider portable air conditioning units for indoor use. Evaporative air coolers are not air conditioners and should not be expected to cool as efficiently as a refrigerated air conditioner. Air coolers may not be a sufficient cooling method in a heat wave.

Throw away if it breaks!

I bought this unit in 2018 from Lowe's. It worked great the first two summers and with the additional new pads ok the third summer. But the design of the float for water level is poor and the motor became loud. Now it only operates on one speed and is so loud it is not useable. No replacement motor has been available for over 3 months now. Honeywell does not make this, they license JMATEK to use the name and they refer you to Sylvaine for parts, which they don't have. They have basically told me...

Nice cooler for summer back patio use.

Would Recommend

Good fan speed selection. Well built. Light weight. Only complaint is cheap brass water connection fitting for the hose connection. Used one time and fell apart and leaks like a sieve. I'll buy a quality adapter to use instead of supplied fitting.

Requires good ventilation

Would Recommend

Our evaporator arrived promptly. It is doing a good job cooling our double garage in our 95 to100 degree weather here in Arizona. It keeps the temperature at about 80 degrees running it on the lowest speed. We had the water supply connected to our soft water system along with a turn off valve so it has a continuous water supply when running. So far so good we are very happy with it.

Has worked Great for 5+ years now but...

We live in Arizona - very dry climate, and have used this ALOT outdoors. This unit has performed up to expectations, albiet a little on the loud side. Here is my one HUGE complaint... I was doing maintenance on this and virtually every screw and bolt in this unit is steel, not stainless steel. Over 1/2 the screws have rusted out and either broke in the plastic or needed to be extracted. What engineer put this together and thought they would save 50 cents and use the cheapest screws available - ...
