I have always owned Honda power equipment for its reliability, but I was very disappointed with this purchase. The GCV 200 motor is garbage. This motor threw a rod after only a year of very light use. My previous mower, which I still own thankfully, has run well now for over 15 years.

THIS IS THE SECOND MOWER I HAVE RECEIVED ON THE SAME PURCHASE ORDER. BOTH HAVE LEAKED OIL AROUND THE VALVE COVER. ALL FOUR BOLTS ARE AT THE RECOMMENDED TORQUE SETTING OF 7FOOTPOUNDS. FIRST MOWER WAS RETURNED UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER LOOKING AT REVIEWS I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS ENGINE. Best Lawn mower ever
I use this lawn mower to mow my personal resident and since I had my yard replanted in Zoysia 2 years ago I needed a lawn mower that would cut my yard and show the beauty and carpet like visual appearance of the grass. Run away HONDA doesn’t honor their warranty
Love the mower BUT they don’t stand behind your warranty. Took mower into shop for major oil leak. Honda PE techs said that from the looks of the internals that it was ran with no oil. That’s why I took it in the crank seal failed and leaked all the oil out while I was mowing. Then they said that they looked up my address and I have a big yard and unit is 5 years old. Fantastic Mower
We had electric start version of this mower, for 3-4 years. Sold to our daughter due to her shoulder surgery. Cold not find electric start anywhere. Bought this one as replacement. Absolutely LOVE this mower. No electric start, but has other features we like even more than our other one. Great service also from James River Equipment.

GREAT RESIDENTIAL MOWER
I've had a Honda before that I bought from a friend and it was already 5 years old and I used it another 4 myself before the self-propelled crapped out and I was not going to spend money to fix it. So I decided to buy a brand new one and just like the old one, filled it with oil and gas adjusted and everything and it started right up on first pull and was cutting right away. Best Mower by far.

Lawn mower starts easily
The mower starts easily and runs very well. Powerful engine. The drive belt on the self propel must be slipping because the mower cannot climb a small hill without me pushing it, but it goes so fast on level ground that I have to jog to keep up. I have adjusted the drive cable, without fixing the problem. I am taking it for warranty service tomorrow. My previous HRX217 worked well for 20 years without this problem.

Typical Honda Product - Well Made and Reliable
This one replaces a prior Honda mower that was lost in Hurricane Helene. For seven years it always started on the first pull. It was the only mower we have had that my wife could easily start. Honda has always been known for its engines. Our only complaint was its weight - because it was strong, it was heavy.
