Good choice if you don't need a whole box. However, I was willing to buy a whole box but these were the only outdoor wood screws in the shorter length I needed so they ended up being the ONLY choice in the store. They were good quality, drove in easily and also backed back out easily (ceramic coating?) plus came with their own handy star bit (which I already had). So I fixed my picket fence and now I need more because there are only a few left in the box.
Quality product that was easy to use
I purchased two boxes of these screws to aid in the construction of some raised planting beds. They had no trouble drilling through the 2x6 that made up the sides and into the posts that I used for corner pieces / anchors. A definite pro for these is that each box included a head for the screwdriver. So there was no searching for one that that will fit. This brand will certainly be my first stop for any future outdoor projects in the future.
I love a good screw
I use these for building bean bag toss games they are a little pricey but work great. They drive real easy and hold great. Star drive is the only way to go in my opinion and they even come with a full size bit to put in your driver instead of the ones that fit in a holder and come out easily and stay in the head of the screw.
Hard to get started into wood
These were average to good. My chief issue is that it took a lot of effort to get the screws drilling/screwing into the wood. In some cases it took more than 20 seconds of drilling for the screws to start. Once they started they augered in fine. Glad that a star drive bit is included even in this lower quantity package.
Quality Product
These fasteners are easy to start in the wood. The Star drive bit is better than a phillips head....screws do not slip off. I really like this product and always recommend for wood fence work or decking. I'm sure you can find cheaper fasteners, but I think it's worth it to spend the money on these.

No Drilling No Splitting!
I'm building a Tiny House and these screws are great! Making installing fascia boards and such much faster! I do Tap them with a hammer to get them started, but then it's just wiz and away you go. More secure than nails and almost as fast!
Great screws.
I use very few nails anymore. Self drilling screws work much better for me. These screws were easily driven by my Ryobi cordless drill/driver. Their torx heads eliminated the slippage normally experienced when driving screws into harder wood.

Very Aggressive screw profile.. works!
BUY THIS SCREW. If your tired of having to push hard to get the screw started,,, this is your screw. It has a very aggressive thread pattern. It gets the job done.
Hillman star drive fasteners
They work very well. I would rather have #2 square drive head like on most of the other fasteners I use. I think they are overpriced
Quality, at a price
Not inexpensive in small quantities - would like to have had 1/2 pound and/or 1 pound options, but they certainly do the job. Superior to Phillips, particularly in harder woods.
