My original wired Gen 1 Nest Doorbell had been having issues for about a year, and finally quit. This is a definite upgrade - larger view of front door area, AND when the doorbell is pushed, it will announce by name anyone who is in your Familiar Faces. The downside is that is NOT compatible with the original Nest app, only the Google Home app. The old doorbell WAS in the Nest app (along with my theromostat) but is no longer. Reluctant buyer
I was a reluctant buyer on this. I had the 1st gen Nest doorbell camera, and it lost video history functionality with the switch to Google. And that video history was really important to me, so I bought this to replace the 1st gen camera under duress. Having said that, I was predisposed to NOT like it. Google nest
Difficult setup, some features not working, poor support from Google.
Needed a new nest.
We recently moved to a new home, and left our old nest doorbell there. We needed a new one and this is a newer version.
Latest Nest is better with wide angle view
Latest Nest is better with wide angle view, we don’t need a wedge and are able to capture the entire porch. Also this version of the Nest doorbell uses the Google Home app which is works much more reliably than the old Nest app.
Great product
Product was easy to install with existing doorbell wiring. It does a good job of recognizing family members and friends at the door and announces them through our Google Home.
Great for peace of mind
It was super easy to install. The app walks you through every step and the final product is a great camera with good resolution.
