Good Ideas 65-Gallon Brown Plastic Rain Barrel Spigot

Purchased this 65 gallon rain barrel Spring '25. Over the summer it worked well; although I experienced similar issues as others with grate not adequate in heavy rain. But, the reason I'm only giving one star is that it didn't survive the winter. Despite draining it in the Fall and opening the spigots to ensure no standing water during hard freezes, it developed a large crack at the base.

4 stars due to cheap rain barrel screen

For a premium rain barrel, I'm knocking a star off due to the need to purchase an after market screen to replace the cheap plastic one it comes with. In my experience, the companion screen does not allow water to flow through effectively, especially during heavy rain.

We like the one flat side. This barrel can be placed up against the wall.

A few improvements needed.

The barrel is large and holds a lot of water. Very stout construction. It’s nice that the spigots come preassembled. I do not like that the second spigot is only halfway up the barrel. This would make an excellent overflow spigot, but it would be better placed about 3/4 of the way up the barrel. Also, the plastic cover to the inlet has a mesh grate to it. This greatly prevents water flowing through it. When I have my downspout pouring directly onto it, most of the water comes out the front inste...

It looks great. I like the place on top to plant flowers.
