Horrible Do Not Buy
Used TWO and they wont hold open a 10# lid more than 40deg. I am an experienced woodworker. I mounted two of these on a 3/4 inch cherry top. They failed miserably. You get what you pay for; something that doesn't work. I should have known when I saw several returns of these, replaced in re-taped packages for resale at several Lowes stores. My guess is that others had the same experience I had.

Gate House lid support instructions on back of package are inadequate. lid support will not hold up some medium weight tops. 10 to 15 lbs even with two lid supports is not enough. It barely holds lid up 45 degrees. Need to have some lid top weight info on package to see if they are strong enough for lid size/weight.

Bent on 1st day
I installed a pair of these on a 15 lb lid.... They both bent on the first day. went up and down maybe 5 or 6 times. then would not open until I forced it up and immediately removed these and returned whatever was left of them.

This product really is no good, installed on a cedar chest I made for my son and his new bride. Followed all instructions properly and they would not lock in place. Made in Taiwan. Taking them back to Lowe's.
