To answer everyone's questions... The space between the bars varies a little, but it's about 3 3/4" to 3 7/8" space. There are NO mounting holes. You buy separate mounting hardware brackets. They are NOT adjustable. They are NOT escape style, so if there is a fire, get out of the house a different way. They come in different sizes if you can find them, or special order them in the store. Welds/Finish are embarrassingly horrible!

I've only opened one of my 36x48 security bars and I was shocked at how terrible the finish is on it. There were spots where there was no finish/pain, but worse, it looks like a kindergartener tried to weld it together and apply finish. I bought these to put on a fixer-upper home in a sketchy area, and I'm still a bit embarrassed for people to see these, that's how bad they look. Unfortunately I am a busy person and live 2.5 hours round trip from the store, so I'm basically stuck with this junk...

I bought three Security Bars yesterday, i have a boxed in front porch that has a large 10 foot window across the front, The Window's slide open and i wanted my property protected, so me and my husband purchased theses bar's. EASY SECURITY WINDOW INSTALLATION...

Although, this is NOT solid cast iron, it has a substantial weight to the job of a security window bar... I recently purchased a portable air conditioner... I needed to secure the window it is connected in... I purchased this bar... the hardest part was, trying to find the correct size of the drill bolt to used for installtion... These security bars are fantastic. Solid, hefty, look great, easy install, flexible mounting options. I installed them myself. Easy peasy. The metal is square tubing which initially concerned me. Gatehouse Security Bar

I had one installed on the inside of my garage so it didn't look tacky from the outside and if I ever had anyone trying to break in from the garage they will be in for a big surprise! All other windows have storm shutters but I didn't want to spend the extra money on the garage window so I opted for the bars! Best buy yet! Strong and sturdy!

Not handled well by lowes

The guard is very well made and tough enough. I bought about 20 of them. The Lowe's staff handle them by dragging on the floor that stripped its paint I don't like. This is a scene I saw and hardly forget.

Fits great

Looks good and fairly easy install. The security bolts are hard to work with, but I discovered a universal socket gets a good bite on the screwdriver blade edges.
