We heat the main level of our Oregon coast house with our fireplace. Needless to say, we generate a lot of ashes which settle easily into our ash can until we are ready to take it out. It simplifies removing ashes from inside the house to outside the house. Easy Peasy.

I was wrong! I love the muted dark gray color and the size of the container is just right.
