Excellent Interior Option

We've used similar products for a previous kitchen remodel, but this brand was superior in that it had fewer knots and defects. Few natural products are perfect, but most pieces were very consistent and straight and aligned for a good fit and appearance. We had to purchase from two different stores in order to procure enough for our project. We hope this is an item that Lowe's can keep in stock.

Patience an absolute must for a 1st timer. :)

I read all of the reviews before deciding to use these to cover our tired, stippled, holey kitchen ceiling. They are tricky little buggers to work with. Especially if the surface that they are being attached to isn't level to begin with. Quite a few broken tongues, pine knots that left holes in the boards and cracks along the beads. We made it work by using caulking (and tons of finishing nails) to hide what we could. Our ceiling was to be painted anyway. We needed to cover about 200 square feet...

Don't Buy if you are looking for quality

You get 6 boards in a package - you can expect at least 50% to be damaged and 1 - 2 to be unusable per package. We bought 12 packages for a project and I would expect to get 1 or 2 boards with some issues - but 50%! These are junk. Tongue portions damaged/broken and grove sections not even or existent in some areas. Part of the issues are their packaging. I am a 57 year old woman. I am staining each board and then hanging them horizontally on my wall. I find them strong, ready, and easy to hang. The only suggestion I have is sand them just a little with 220. The first two on right are just stained and the two on left are sanded and then stain. Both are beautiful but I love the sanded.

not as ready as advertised

bought 3 packages of this for a project in a customers house. I needed 2 pieces out of each plank to do the job, some planks could only use one piece of it. the tongue and groove had knots that had been knocked out or broken out in the processing, rough rippled planing, I had to fill and sand every plank before I could put the first coat of finish on. Bedroom ceiling

Used this for our bedroom ceiling, bought an 80 tooth saw blade for the miter saw then sanded the edges at 45 degrees where they meet. Ended up needing more than expected due to cutting and waste, est 20% for splits and cracks. Used finish nails through drywall ceiling then quarter round trim. Finished with clear varnish, Polycrylic. We rolled it, brushing it in straight away. Time-consuming project but worthwhile results.

using this in my entire cabin looks nice

i have bought over 50 packages and need aprox 25 more to finish the cabin as far as looks its nice as far as quality its pathetic to see what the mill is sending i have had several pieces that were 2 inches short of 8 ft several ends split and not all there 1 piece had a bead board all the way through the piece id say i had 32 pieces i could not use as a whole 8 ft piece and used around the doors and windows who ever is packing this stuff this should not be leaving the mill in these conditions ...

Good budget friendly product

You can achieve a very nice result if you are patient and take your time. The product is thin and easily damaged if you are not careful. I would recommend you purchase 20% more than you need. Keep your receipt so you can return the boards that are not useable. We used a paint+primer and coated the boards once before installation and then put two more coats on once on the ceiling.
