Shower head leaks at ball joint

I bought this for my new build so that I would have all plumbing parts on hand next year when we build. To make sure the showerhead works, I installed in my current bathroom for testing purposes. It immediately leaked from the ball joint. Other than that, I cannot yet verify if the trim package works since I'll need to have that installed in order to find out.
