Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The cordless vacuum is portable and lightweight, with good suction power when using higher-capacity batteries. It effectively picks up dust, debris, and small spills. However, suction may be weaker on carpeted surfaces, and the exhaust port can sometimes blow debris in an undesirable direction. Some users have also reported reliability issues after several months of use. Overall, the vacuum is suitable for light-duty cleaning tasks, but may have limitations for more demanding applications.

Bought this job site vacuum because it runs on battery as well as AC which makes it extremely convenient. Of course, the vacuum sucks up all the debris needed but the fact that it can also be used as a blower is a must for my job. Too many small areas to reach around (conduit, pipes, etc...) so I can blow the debris out and then vacuum it all up.

design defect
I bought this product 6 months ago and is does not suck. I identified the problem, which is the float ball that acts to shut off the vacuum when there is too much water is too light weight. Whenever I turn on the machine, the power of the vacuum sucks the ball, which is located within a filter, up so it turns off the suction feature off. I have washed the filter, which is new and has only been used a few times, with no effect. The only way it will work is to remove the filter which is not r...

Defective
Item will not run when plugged in to the wall outlet. It runs while powered by battery, but something is wrong with the corded power. I am glad I tested it within my return window.

Don’t recommend
I bought this mostly for vacuuming up dust and dog hair piles when I sweep up my home gym. It does an ok job but only when you run it with a high amp hour battery like a 5ah power stack. I could live with that if it performed well plugged into the wall, but it does not. When you have a low amp hour battery or you are plugged into 120V the suction is barely use able. I thought maybe there was an obstruction in it until I used a powerstack. I wouldn’t recommend this at all.

Not as powerful as a fullsize vac, but VERY handy.
Convenient
DCV581H compared to the earlier DC500
Compared to the earlier DC500; this DCV581H corded/cordless 2 gal is larger and has its battery mounted on the end. With a large 9ah Flexvolt battery installed, the unit is somewhat off balance compared to the mid mounted battery but has greatly extended charge duration. I will be looking for an 1 1/4" extension hose for cleaning the car and my DC500 had a shoulder strap but there are no strap mounts on the newer design that added handy hose tool storage. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase...
Works ok
Needs a few more accessories with it
Beware the Exaust outlet
Got this as a gift and is a good cordless vacuum but with the exaust blowing all the dirt and dust everywhere, Then to come out with an attachment to remedy this problem but DeWalt wants me to pay them for a fix to their stupidity. Nope, not doing that. Your mistake not mine. No more DeWalt tools for me.
