Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The product provides a smooth, glossy finish, but some users reported issues with uneven application, including brush marks, blotches, and streaks. Proper surface preparation and application technique are crucial for achieving good results. The product may work best on flat, smooth surfaces and may require multiple coats or additional finishing steps to get the desired look.

I went to Lowe's today to pick up some Cabot Premium Wood Finish Stain + Sealer in Espresso and was told they no longer carried it and I would have to order a case to get it! I do not need a case - your website tells me different stores carry it but when I go to their website this particular interior use product is not available! Is there someone out there who really does carry it that I can get it from?

Great product
I have read some of the other reviews, including some negatives. Some didn't like this product because it leaves brush marks. Me personally, I like the marks. I found when I put on a third coat I couldn't see them as much. But I still love the outcome. I feel it's your personal preference. I've used different stains from different companies. Some I like, some I don't. Those I don't like, some people do like. But to give a negative comment because the product does what it's supposed to do isn't f...

Love my new kitchen cabinets
I used this product (Gingersnap) to refinish my faded cabinets. I applied two coats to 25 doors and drawers combined. What a difference! I am a 76 year old Grandma and found no problems with application.

Awesome for renewing a tired looking item
I LOVE Cabot's Premium Wood Finish Stain+Sealer. I have used it to renew the interior of a stained and polyied door, some old chairs I found at a thrift store, an old a worn piano that was converted into a piano bar, and several other projects. You do not need to remove the old finish, just give it a good sanding to take the gloss off and apply a few coats of Cabot's. Voila, a new piece.

Wonderful stuff! Want to find more of it!
I bought this because of it's low VOC rating, because it was for a homemade cat-tree project. I'd read that low VOC products are much healthier for pets and humans to be around, and it was important to me. I'd never used it before, and I was really impressed the very first time I tried it on a "test spot". The color was wonderful and the product dried quickly with no gummy feeling like other stains. Two coats resulted in a perfect finish and a gorgeous completed project. The cat tree now is a lo...

Great Product
I have used several wood finish products and this one leads the pack. Deep penetrating color with an even flow sealer. Application was incredibly easy using a small nap roller and find bristle brush. Would recommend to a friend.

Works good in the right application
I finished the trim in my house with red oak and covered it with espresso . I found it fast and rich. I can see how people had trouble with larger pieces such as table finishes etc. as it dries very fast. But it is a great product for a mantle or base board or chair rail etc. it will actually dry faster than latex paint

Practice 1st!
I used this on a table I built. It came out pretty nice BUT it would've been better had I practiced on a larger test piece first. This stuff dries really, really fast so I did end up with some overlap marks. Luckily they blend well with the grain (poplar). I also have a lot of brush marks. Hope addional sanding and some light coats of poly will help. My advice: practice, work quickly, apply multiple thin coats, & have a helper if doing a large area. It's a good product and cleanup is easy!

Pros and Cons
I have used several cans of this and now have experience with it. It does dry fast but I have done large surfaces like doors without a blemish. Any experience with paint? Do the entire surface while wet so it has time to blend. Pour it on and spread it out with the brush if you have to. Small surfaces like trim work were a breeze, and was able to do a second coat without waiting half the day. Also has a very durable coat, and have even used going over wood with a finish already on it. I have scr...

Do not use on cabinets!
I bought this thinking I could save myself some time. I built a new cabinet using baltic birch and this product ruined the finish. It dries to fast, shows all overlapping marks and shows EXTREME brush marks. Nothing like a stain, or polycrylic. Almost like a shellac if it was mixed with dirty water. Do not use this unless you like frustration and wasting time.
