How It Works
Hardwood flooring will contain a mix of cleaner planks as well as character planks. Unique natural occurring character marks may include knots, splits, checking, sap, pith, mineral streaks, color variations, embodied cracks and variations in grain. These unique characteristics are normal and are not construed as defects. Markings vary within each species and with each width. Wood is a natural material containing distinctive differences in color, texture, and grain. Natural color and grain variation in raw material will dictate how the finished product looks. Room scenes, pictures and hardwood floor samples are intended as a visual guide reference and not as the actual representation of the hardwood floor itself.

Bruce Frisco Saddle Oak
Purchased 5 cartons flooring. I have installed plenty of flooring including Bruce over the years. I believe Bruce calls this a mid-grade? Very few pieces were not useable, those pieces were used for the end cuts. I will be remodeling a walk-in closet soon, and will be installing the same flooring in the closet.

Mixed review
Color of wood was different from sample I got in store. After reading other reviews I purchased extra wood which was helpful because many boards were not useable due to being bowed. Otherwise, I was pleased with the purchase and quality.

Extremely poor quality
According to our contractor, over 60% of pieces per each box he opened could not be used due to various defects and extremely poor quality. He refused to continue with floor installation. Despite this, Lowes refused to accept returns outside of the 90 days window. If you still decide to buy, check every piece right away. And do not get me started on they "Scheduled" delivery process. Anything but "scheduled". Waste of money.

Varying quality of planks
The quality of the planks varied. That is, some with the tongue and grove matched well and joining went smoothly. Others had a bit of warping; joints with excess material that need to be cut away; rough surface; or poor edges. We had the wood stored in the room were it was going to be used for over a month, so 'conditioning' was not the issue. Had to be selective of what and where to use pieces (not based on wood colorization, which is to be expected).

Bruce 3-1/4” Hardwood - GREAT PRODUCT
We have bought Bruce hardwood flooring for the past 20 years. We installed it in our first home in the mid 90’s, again in early 2010 .. and was very skeptical buying based on the poor reviews. Nonetheless, we went forward and bought enough for our master bedroom - and the product is still amazing .. and the price was around $5.00/sqft which was a great deal.
